Hate traffic? Running late for a meeting? (Ride with Angkas)

They say beat the traffic.

This is Adam from Alpha F. Consulting and in this topic we are beating the traffic with Angkas application.

I don't care what you wear going to work, tuxedo, casual, smart casual, classic, even shorts, it doesn't matter; because you have to try this beast!

Hands down, best service I have ever experience for 4 years since I arrived in the Philippines.
To be honest, I just want to know where was this service 4 years ago.

Coverage Area: Makati and BGC. Well, they go other places too, but they need to take different routes since they are not with good terms with some parts of the Philippines, like "Mandaluyong". Somebody didn't get paid? Maybe?

According to their application, base fare: 50 Pesos for 1st 2 M, then they charge you per KM 10 Pesos. - Not bad at all.

Continuing: Fares may go up when demand is high. - Okay fair enough, they need to earn money and pay their drivers.

The question remain:

  • Is the services available all the time? Answer: You have 90 percent chance you will have a driver.
  • Is Angkas safe? Yes it is very safe
  • Are the drivers professional? Well, I would rate them 4 out 5

Let's be honest, we are humans, and we are away from being perfect, perfection is only for God, but I had some issues with few drivers. It could be the language barrier, I am not sure, but I believe it is just miscommunication, specially when they text you in Tagalog, and I have to guess what do they mean, but I have learnt myself so far that "Dito n po/poh" means, they have arrived at the pick up location.

Some of them they already know me already from previous trips, so they text in English, impressive!

It is on-demand motorcycle taxi service and it is from my humble opinion, very convenient.

Here are the list of the questions that 99 percent of the drivers ask me:

  1. First time with Angkas, sir?
  2. Where are you from sir?
  3. How long you have been living here, sir?
  4. Do you speak Tagalog sir?
  5. Do you take Angkas everyday, sir?
  6. Do you work here sir?
  7. Do you love Angkas. sir?
Ride On!

I have no complaints about the questions, I get it, I am a foreigner, and I look foreigner; but sometimes I just finish my work and I just don't want to have a conversation on my way home, but again the majority of them are really nice and always having a smile on their face, just what I need after a tough day.

Oh, one more thing! They never ask for more money, they stick to the fare on the application.

Only one of them, he was old guy, and he was working on a regular taxi before, he mentioned, he hates it when there is a promo code; because he prefer to get money on the spot for his family, instead of waiting for the pay day.

Almost forgetting! You see, every once in a while they do something really nice. They text you a code, a promo code, you can use, a discount on the original fare, from 10 pesos up to 50 pesos (20, 30, 40), and so on.

Usually in the weekend, or for the people who has night shift after 12:00 AM. Also they have different set of codes with different discounts, but the one I shared with you are the most common.

Already, that was my experience with Angkas, make sure to download that bad boy on your phone from Apple Store, or if you have Andriod, check Google Play store, and look for "Angkas".
